Process and Rationale

Young students need to learn left from right and they often struggle with this concept.  It is imperative that as a child matures and prepares for independent living he or she will need to learn in depth skill from which he o she will need to draw from.  In preparing my learning outcomes I try my best to make them all relate to one another.  Learning Outcomes: 1. Students will learn print concepts- reading left to right, top to bottom. 2. Students will recognize and name letter Gg in print.  3. Students will recall the story sequence of Tabby Tiger’s Neighbors.
In preparing learning outcome #1  I ensure that I would be able to use this concept through out each Outcome that I wrote.  With this in mind I focused on the writing and how a student would remember how he or she would start on his or her paper to write the letter.  he or she will start on the left side of the paper and move to the right and from top to bottom to complete the action.  This also applies when doing story sequencing and reading books as well as text.  A song would also be used to help the students to remember the directions he or she must follow to read and write, (Top to bottom, left to right).
